Replaying a conversation from today

You wrote

I said something earlier today and I can't stop going over it. I keep replaying the moment and thinking of what I should have said instead. The more I think about it the worse it gets. I'm convinced everyone noticed and thinks less of me now.

It sounds like that moment is looping in your mind, and with each replay it becomes more vivid and unsettling. It must feel exhausting to be trapped in that cycle, especially when you're so convinced that others noticed and judged you.

Quick exercises

  • Replaying Details

Spend 5 minutes writing about the specifics of what you said and what you wish you could change about it. Focus on concreteness rather than interpretations.

  • Reality Check

Write down 3-5 possible reactions others might have had to your words—some neutral, some positive, and some negative.

  • Self-Reassurance Letter

Write a short letter to yourself reassuring you about this situation, focusing on times when you thought something similar but it turned out alright.
